Four Months Old

We took Layton to his four month check up this week. He was such a happy baby during the whole visit and was babbling and squealing at the doctor. He even managed to spit up all over the doctor when she was checking him out. He is still topping the charts with his growth. Here are his stats at four months:

18 lbs. 2 oz. (96%)
26 1/2 inches (92%)

The doctor explained to us that he would probably start to slow down on his growth which is a good thing. He is growing out of his clothes so fast these days. She also told us we could start feeding him some cereal whenever we are ready. We haven't tried it yet but will probably start that real soon. The shots weren't too bad he only cried for a few seconds and as soon as I picked him up he started smiling again. Later that night he was really fussy and that night did not sleep well. Since he got his shots he hasn't been sleeping very good at night. It is hard being up with him after he has been sleeping all night for so long. I'm hoping this is just another growth spurt and that he will start sleeping better again.

At four months he can roll from his tummy to his back and his back to his tummy. He loves to blow bubbles ( I think his cousin Mason taught him this one). He can squeal and laugh and loves when his Daddy plays with him. He loves bathtime and has finally discovered that he can splash. He babbles a lot and his cousin Cooper can make him smile they can speak to each other in their own language :) The drool never stops and he is constantly putting his toys or his hands in his mouth. He loves to play in his exersaucer and has learned how to push all the buttons that make all the noise. He likes to be propped up where he can see what is going on and refuses to lay down unless it is time to eat. He also loves to play peek a boo with mommy. During the day it is hard for me to feed him he is so active and gets distracted so easily now. He loves to go outside and has become more aware of the dogs outside, he loves to watch them. Here are some pictures of him at 4 months old.

Jackie's Bachelorette Party

Last Saturday I went up to Dallas for my friend Jackie's Bachelorette Party. We went to Grapevine and had lunch at an Italian cafe and then went to a few wineries and did some wine tasting. Later that afternoon we had a lingerie shower and then we went out to dinner. There were 15 girls that came so it was a lot of fun. It was nice to get away and catch up with my college friends. At the same time it was hard being away from Layton but I knew he was in good hands. His Grammy D came over and spent the day with him and daddy. I heard they had a great time hanging out. Here are some pictures from the weekend:

Our Little Pumpkin

Last Friday I took Layton to the Pumpkin Patch at the Methodist church in San Antonio behind the Quarry with Leslie, Mason, Lauren, Cooper, Juli and Tanner. We enjoyed lunch at Freddy's and then headed to see the pumpkins with all the kiddos. It was a beautiful day and we had the whole place to ourselves which was nice. Mason and Layton weren't sure what to think of the big orange things. Cooper was busy running through the pumpkins and kept trying to escape but we managed to get a few good pictures of all the kids. Tanner enjoyed trying to pick up all the pumpkins. It was a fun afternoon and Cooper gave us a taste of what it will be like next year at the pumpkin patch.

Layton has a mischievous smile in this one these boys are going to keep us on our toes when they get older. No telling what they will get into some day together.

I managed to get a few of him in his giraffe costume that Nana bought him for Halloween.

Layton's Baby Dedication

We had Layton's baby dedication at Cowboy Fellowship on Sunday October 11th. We were so blessed to have all the grandparents there and even cousin Mason to share this special time with us. Layton was very calm and wide eyed through the whole dedication. While Pete was praying with the three of us he prayed for Layton's future spouse and it reminded me that we should be praying for his future wife on a daily basis. I know my parents told me growing up they always prayed for my future spouse and I know God had a hand in bringing Clifton and I together. The weather was a little nasty outside that day but we bundled him up in his big boy clothes and made it to church on time (an unusual occurrence). Here are some pictures from the dedication ceremony.

Jackie's Bridal Shower

This past Saturday I helped with a bridal shower for my college friend Jackie. Her wedding is in San Antonio on December 5th. I have the privilege of being her maid of honor. We met our first day of three a days for volleyball at TLU back in 2000. Even though we never lived together she is my one friend I still keep in touch with on a daily basis from college. We have been on numerous trips together over the years because we both love to travel and she is the one that convinced me to get certified to scuba dive my senior year of college. Here are a few old pictures I found of Jackie and I. We have had so many good times over the years.

Teething

I think Layton might be teething already. He wants to put everything in his mouth lately. I found his teething ring someone gave us at one of the showers and put in the freezer and he loved sucking and drooling all over it. He has also discovered his feet now, he grabs for them when I change his diaper. I've been reading to him every night before I feed him and put him to bed and this week he finally became interested in turning the pages for mommy. Once he figured out how to do it that was all he was interested in. It is so much fun watching him learn something new everyday. Here are a few pictures from this week.

I was cleaning this afternoon and I looked over and Layton was trying to eat his toys on his exersaucer.

Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter

Little Amanda got married last weekend. Unfortunately it rained like crazy all day so the wedding was moved indoors but we still had lots of fun and everything turned out beautiful. We had fun getting our hair and makeup done and the rain made things interesting. Amanda looked stunning in her dress walking down the aisle. It was an emotional day for me watching my little sister become Jerrod's wife. They wrote their own vows and that was a really special part of the ceremony. My brother Daniel sang "I Cross My Heart" by George Strait while they lit the unity candle and it was hard standing there next to Amanda when all I could see were the tears of happiness rolling down Jerrod's face during the song. I'm so blessed to have such an amazing brother-n-law. They are on their honeymoon in Hawaii this week and I talked to Amanda several times and they are having a blast. I can't wait to see them when they get back. I'm very anxious to see the wedding pictures from the photographer as well. Layton was such a good baby all weekend. I am so thankful I have a very flexible little guy he was up until 11 Friday night and then midnight Saturday night and was in great spirits and full of smiles. He was passed around so much this weekend and was a pretty good sport about everything. It was the first time I've taken him anywhere in the rain it was a challenge getting him in and out of the car all weekend in the pouring rain. Here are some pictures from our fun weekend in New Braunfels.
