First Road Trip

We went to Houston Friday for Amanda and Jerrod's shower. It was our first time traveling with Layton so I think I packed everything in the whole house. Layton did great, we never had to stop so that was nice. He was really hungry though by the time we got to Amanda's apartment. The party was Friday night at one of Amanda's friends houses. Layton was actually up with us until midnight and then he slept until 7:30 the next morning and then went back to sleep after I fed him until 10:00 so we all got to sleep in. Saturday we got up and hung out for awhile. Amanda played with Layton because she never gets to see him especially first thing in the morning when he is so happy. We went to lunch and then shopping at the Galleria. It was a lot of fun and Layton was a great sport. We got home Saturday night and just hung out at home and unpacked. Today after church I caught up on laundry and cleaned a little after I napped with Layton. Tonight I went running and while I was gone Layton rolled over for the first time for Daddy on the couch. Thankfully Clifton took a picture of it so I could see it. I was trying to get him to do it again tonight but he wouldn't. I guess our days of leaving him on the couch for a second while we go grab something in the kitchen are over. It was a nice relaxing weekend and it was fun to get out of town for a little bit. Three Months Old

Layton is 3 months old today! I can't believe how much he is changing everyday. He is so curious right now and really studies his surroundings. He loves to be outside so I took him for another long walk/jog tonight and he stayed awake almost the whole time. This cooler weather has been amazing after the hot summer we have had. When I got home today after work we decided to put together his exersaucer; well Clifton put it together. I was in charge of putting batteries in all the little parts. It was a success! Layton really liked it and he can stand in it which he thinks is pretty cool. Here are a few pictures I took tonight:

Back to work

I survived my first week back at work. It was the hardest week I have had in a long time. I missed Layton so much during the day but each day got easier. Layton seemed to adjust very well which made things easier on me knowing he was happy. Thankfully it was a four day week. Trying to get back into the groove of things is going to take some time. I was exhausted by the end of the week. Getting up at 5 every morning to get everything done is tiring after having twelve weeks at home with no real schedule. I don't know how moms do it that have more than one kid and work. Clifton is getting to spend some time with Layton every morning after I leave for work so I'm thankful they have that time with just the two of them.

One day after work this week I decided to try out the jogging stroller with Layton. I was really wanting to get some exercise in but wanted to spend time with Layton since I hadn't seen him all day. He loved it! We went down our road and back and he eventually fell asleep. Pushing the stroller while trying to jog was a great workout for mommy too. Here are a few recent pics of Layton. He is now 12 weeks old and his new thing is to suck his thumb. We are trying to prevent him from doing this so every time we see him doing it we stick the pacifier in his mouth. He just started laughing out loud too. Clifton likes to bounce him really fast in his bouncer and he laughs and thinks it is great. Layton likes to stand in your lap when you are holding him. His legs are getting stronger and now it is hard to get him to sit down.

Amanda's Bachelorette Party

This past weekend was Amanda's Bachelorette Party in Austin. I survived my first night away from Layton. Nana and Papa took care of Layton while I was away. It was a good thing I had my parents watch him because Clifton was sick all weekend so everything worked out. I got up really early Saturday morning and fed Layton and held him for awhile and then headed to Austin and met up with all the girls at the hotel where everyone was staying and we headed to Lake Travis. We rented a big party boat for a few hours and it was a lot of fun. The sun finally came out the last two hours we were there which was nice. The lake was really low but it was still very pretty out there. We spent the rest of the afternoon hanging out in the hotel and then that evening we ordered pizza and had a lingerie shower for Amanda. We went out in downtown Austin that night. It was a lot of fun but very tiring. I was feeling old all weekend hanging out with Amanda and all of her young friends; I don't have the energy like I used to. Needless to say we didn't get much sleep Saturday night. Trying to keep up with 16 girls on 6th Street was a challenge but we made it back safely to the hotel with everyone. I missed Layton so much and was glad to get up early on Sunday morning and drive home to see him. I'm glad the weekend turned out great I was a little nervous because there was so much planning involved trying to coordinate with all 16 girls but I think everyone had a great time! Now we can look forward to Amanda's wedding in just a few weeks. Here are a few pictures from the party.
