6 Months Old

I can't believe we are half way through Layton's first year. He is growing up way too fast. I still look back at these pictures and can't believe how much he has changed in 6 months. This was him the day after he was born.

And here he is today in front of the Christmas tree

Here is what our little man is up to these days. Layton is becoming more interactive with us everyday and we are having so much fun with him. He now sleeps from 9:30-8:00 on the weekends and after I feed him he will go back to sleep until 10. Clifton has trained him to sleep in which is awesome. During the week I still wake him up to feed him at 5:30 before work but he goes right back to sleep. He takes 3 naps usually and they are about 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on the day. He can say dada and when he is upset that is what he says over and over. He is now eating cereal in the morning once he wakes up for the day and eats about 2 oz. of a vegetable at night. We just started fruits yesterday and he had some banana but he wasn't a big fan. We discovered at the doctor today he has two bottom teeth now. His other one broke through and you can see the sharp white point coming up. He loves to play pattycake, loves to be read to as long as he can turn the pages, likes to laugh with daddy, can sit up like a big boy now and he enjoys his exersaucer and jumperoo. He is constantly drooling and sticks everything in his mouth. He is really reaching and grabbing for anything within his reach now. He is also strong enough now to put himself in the crawl position and will rock back and forth.

It is crazy to think that 6 months ago this is how daddy and Layton played and now
this is how they play together

We took him to the doctor today and here are his 6 month stats:

Weight: 19 lbs. 12 oz. (83rd percentile)
Height: 28 inches (91st percentile)

I just love it when babies sleep with their little butts up in the air. I was finally able to catch Layton sleeping like this today. So precious!
I hope we have a good night tonight after all the shots he got today. After his 4 month shots we had a rough 2 weeks of him waking up multiple times so I'm hoping he will sleep soundly all night. Until next time . . . .

All I want for Christmas is my two bottom teeth

Layton got his first tooth last week! I've been constantly sticking my finger in his mouth to feel his gums and one day last week I felt something sharp. It didn't start bothering him until later in the week but I have a feeling his other bottom tooth is trying to come through now too. We have had a few rough nights but baby tylenol seems to do the trick right now. He has been a little more fussy and clingy than normal but seems to be handling it okay. I've tried over and over to get a picture of his tooth and he does not like me messing with his mouth as I'm sure it is sore.

Layton likes to pose for the camera now so when we say cheese he makes the funniest faces. Here are a few from this week:

He has also started playing pattycake all by himself this week. He starts clapping his hands by himself now and gets so excited when we start singing the song. He does it all day long and of course once I get the camera out he won't do it anymore. This is the best video I've gotten so far of him doing it.

Christmas time

Our tree is finally up and the house is decorated. It is so fun to watch Layton stare at the lights and the shiny ornaments. I can't wait to see his reaction to all the presents on Christmas day. He will probably be more into the paper and bows this year. This time of year is so much more special now that we have a child to share it with. We are truly blessed! Here are a few pictures of Layton enjoying the Christmas tree at our house.

Clifton helped me get the garland up on the mantle I just love this time of year!

Layton and I stayed home all day on Friday, the weather was really nasty and he helped me do some laundry. He loved playing in the laundry basket.

I just wonder what he is thinking:

Playgroup Christmas Party

Thursday night we went to Tawny and Paxton's house for the Playgroup Christmas party. This summer while I was on maternity leave I was invited to meet up with a bunch of stay at home moms and their kids. I'm going to start going once a month to the playgroup because they meet on Fridays which is my day off. We had a book exchange at the party and all the kids were really excited. Layton was more interested in playing with the bow on his present. Here are some pictures from the party.

I love this picture! Aunt Lauren got Layton to smile while Abby got the picture. It is so hard to catch him smiling like this:

Jackie's Wedding Weekend

Last weekend my best friend Jackie got married. It was a busy weekend but so much fun! We started on Friday with pedicures at the nail salon. Layton tagged along with me since Friday is our day to hang out together. He was so good at the nail salon and at lunch with the girls.

Friday night my parents watched him so we could go back to San Antonio for the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. It was so cold that night on the riverwalk but it was nice to have a evening out to ourselves. The lights on the river are beautiful this time of year.

Saturday morning I headed back downtown to start getting ready for the wedding. We had a team from a local salon come to the hotel where everyone else was staying and do our hair and makeup. It was lots of fun! The wedding was beautiful and I'm so glad Jackie found Jared, they are perfect together. It was fun catching up with all my college friends.

So cute! Mr. and Mrs. Jared Lee:
This is what I was doing most of the night. Layton was a good sport that night he decided to take his evening nap right as they were serving dinner at the reception which was awesome Clifton and I got to eat our dinner at the same time. He is a night owl he was awake until 11 that night and finally crashed on the drive home.

Family Pictures

We had some family pictures taken at our house a couple of weeks ago by our friends Juli and Tawny. I have been wanting to do this for awhile and I was so glad we took the time to have them taken. We were very pleased with how they turned out. I love this first one of Layton's big blue eyes. He looks so much like his daddy! Here are a few of our favorites:

Staying at Nana and Papa's House

We ended up moving out of our house right before Thanksgiving so they could finish the tile on our side of the house. It was a bigger hassle than I imagined but I'm so glad the tile is finished and we are back in our house. My parents were so nice to let us stay with them for almost two weeks. I think they enjoyed the company and I know they enjoyed spending time with Layton everyday. Thanks mom and dad for everything yall are the best! It was awesome to come to their house every night after a long day at work and my mom always had dinner ready. I got spoiled! Last week we were able to get our house cleaned up and everything put back in its place. We love our new tile it is lighter than our old stuff and makes every room seem bigger now. Here are a few pictures of Layton while we were staying at Nana and Papa's house.

You will notice in the pics Layton is sitting up now all by himself.

He is enjoying his baby food more and more. He now has had sweet potatoes, carrots and squash.

Santa Baby

We managed to take Layton to see Santa Claus one Friday afternoon. He was laughing and smiling at everyone while we were waiting in line and as soon as we set him on Santa's lap he put his serious face on. Everyone was dancing around talking to him trying to get him to smile and he wasn't having it. Finally he turned around and started looking at Santa and then managed to tug on his beard. The photographers were able to capture a cute photo of him looking up at Santa. I'm sure next year it will be even more interesting.

Some of our friends Juli and Tawny started a photography business. Nana bought Layton a little Santa suit and I couldn't wait to get some Christmas pictures taken of him in it. Here are some of the awesome photos they took of our little Santa baby. Here is the link to their website if you live in the area and are interested in some pictures. http://pocketfullofposes.org/
