Great Birthday

I had a great birthday this year thanks to all my wonderful family and friends. It was a beautiful day yesterday and Clifton and I were able to meet up after work in San Antonio and have dinner together outside. It was the first time Clifton and I had been out to eat by ourselves since Layton was born so we really enjoyed ourselves. I got some really nice gifts and Clifton and I also got iphones yesterday. I stayed up way too late last night playing with it but I can tell I'm going to love it. It is addicting for sure. I haven't taken as many pictures as I normally do lately but we did get these last night after Layton's bath.

Spring is here

We have some beautiful patches of bluebonnets in our front yard this year because of all the rain we have been getting. Tonight after work I decided to take Layton's picture out in them. The dogs wanted in on the fun but thankfully Clifton was home and was able to occupy them long enough for me to get a few pictures of Layton.

Here is Daisy giving Layton a few kisses

Girls Night Out

Friday night I got to go out with a bunch of my girlfriends for dinner and drinks. My sister-n-law Laura was in town with her friend Janet so we all met up and went out in San Antonio. Clifton agreed to watch Layton for the evening so I was really able to enjoy myself not having to worry about him at all. More than anything it was nice to catch up with old friends and enjoy each others company. Here are a few pictures from our fun night.

Happy 9 Months Layton!

Our little man is growing up and learning so many new things everyday. Here is a summary of what he is up to these days. He is now cruising the furniture and using his push toy to take a few steps at a time. He pulls up on anything and everything and is super fast at crawling now. He likes to pull up on the back door and watch the dogs or daddy outside. He loves to go outside and blow bubbles or sit with the dogs. He is talking more and more and now says Ba all the time and is finally saying mama a lot which I'm loving. He is waving bye bye to everyone now and will do it on command. He has finally learned the sign for more and has done it a few times. He loves to beat on everything and make funny faces at us. He sometimes will respond when we tell him no but sometimes will continue with whatever he is getting into. He still continues to put everything in his mouth and his top four teeth are all coming in right now which explains all the sleepless nights about 2 weeks ago. He has gone back to his great sleeping schedule and sleeps all night from 9 to 8. He loves to drink cold water now out of a sippy cup and has finally figured out how to hold it himself and hold it high enough so he can get the water out. He has been enjoying the warmer weather because we have been taking him on walks after work in the evenings. He just talks and looks around the whole time. He is still a cuddler and loves to be held a lot in the evenings. He still loves his walker and now I hide behind the counter and chase him and say I'm going to get you and he squeals with delight and then I'll go and run and hide and do it again he thinks it is the greatest thing.

We are slowly making the transition to table food now. He is now eating lots of steamed peas and diced carrots, avocado, mashed potatoes, bananas, apricots, peaches, pears, diced apples, yogurt and oatmeal along with puffs, cheerios, graham crackers, and pieces of dried fruit. He will eat pretty much anything you put in front of him. He gets excited when he sees me go to the pantry and pull the snacks out. He also loves bath time. He starts bouncing and smiling when he hears me turn on the water. He has really gotten into bouncing balls on the tile floor and chasing them or flipping a toy around on the tile and watch it spin around. He claps and laughs when he watches his toys spin around it is the cutest thing. He is also into doors right now he loves to open and close them. That is the first thing he goes for when we set him down.

He is such a joy to be around and I just love watching him play and figure new things out everyday. I can't believe we only have 3 months left of his first year. It has been so much fun and I know will just get better.

We took him to the doctor for his 9 month checkup and here are his stats:

Weight: 22 lbs.
Height: 29 1/2 inches

He is wearing size 4 in shoes and wears mostly 12 month or 12-18 month clothing now. Here are some pictures I took of him on his 9 month bday. He looks so grown up now that he can pull up on our bathtub.

Trying to figure out how to turn on the water

This is Layton's favorite position to sleep in. . . . I love it he looks so peaceful when he is sleeping.

Blowing Bubbles with Roscoe and Daisy

Today the weather was amazing so Layton and I decided to go outside and blow some bubbles. Roscoe and Daisy wanted to get in on the fun too. The dogs weren't quite sure what to think of the bubbles and I couldn't stop laughing at Roscoe trying to eat them in the air. Layton thought they were funny too. I hope we have many more nice days like today this spring. It was nice to sit outside in the sunshine this afternoon. Here are a few pics of Layton and the dogs.

Layton's First Trip to the Zoo

Saturday I went with Lauren, Cooper, Juli and Tanner to the San Antonio Zoo. The weather was nice and cool and it felt great to be outside for a change. Layton wasn't quite sure what to think of all the animals but we had a great time. It was fun to watch Cooper get excited about seeing all the big animals and of course the "Big Gigi" what he calls his giraffe. Once Layton is closer to Tanner and Cooper's age he will be more into I'm sure. Layton finally fell asleep by the time we made it over to the bears and he slept the last hour we were there in his stroller. Here are a few pictures from the zoo.

Play date with cousin Mason

I had the opportunity to keep Mason on Friday for Leslie and John Paul and it was so much fun watching the two boys play together. Mason loved the ball pit in Layton's room. Here are a few pictures of them playing together.

Layton being silly with his rings.

Mason is so laid back compared to Layton he was really easy to watch. The only tricky part of the day was when they were both tired and cranky and ready for a nap at the same time. I don't know how people do it with twins. Mason is such a happy boy it was a nice change to our normal Fridays at home.

I looked up and Layton had crawled over to the door in the game room and pulled up somehow and was sucking on the window. Crazy boy!

Growing up

Layton loves bath time and after he gets out we always play in his room before I put him to bed. I just got this bigger towel for him since he is too long for his baby towels now.

Last week we decided it was time to lower his crib again since he started pulling up and standing in his bed. Here is Clifton making the adjustments. Layton still isn't sleeping very well at night but I think he is working on his top front teeth coming in. He now stands up in his bed and cries mamamama when he wakes up. It is hard not to run in there now that he finally calls me mama. Here he is standing by his little chair in his room.

Layton in Action

Here is a short video of Layton learning to pull up in his pack in play. He is so proud of himself.

Pulling up and waving bye bye

Layton figured out how to pull up this past weekend. On Saturday I found him in his crib like this after his afternoon nap. Time to lower the mattress again so he doesn't climb out. He is learning so many new things every week now.

He has also figured out how to wave bye bye and now waves to everyone all the time. It is the cutest thing!

Yesterday we went to Babiesrus to get him his big boy carseat because his infant seat was getting way to heavy to carry around with him in it. Here he is trying out his new carseat.

Waving bye byeThe box it came in was huge so we put him in it and he played in it for awhile. He thought it was pretty cool and I just love this picture of him laughing.
