Making Brownies

Tonight I did a lot of baking for our Hindes Family annual trip to Rockport tomorrow.  Layton helped me make the brownies and he really enjoyed licking the bowl.  I have never let him do this and poor thing he cried when I took it away to wash it.

Doug and Jennie's Wedding

Last weekend Clifton and I went to Doug and Jennie's wedding in San Antonio.  We had a really nice time and got to see and hang out with lots of our friends that we don't get to see very often.  The wedding was gorgeous and the reception was so much fun.  We stayed the night on the Riverwalk with Daniel and Lauren which was a nice treat.  Layton got to spend the night with Nana and Papa.  We ended up going out after the reception and staying out until 2 which I haven't done in so long.  I was a good sport for being pregnant and all but I enjoyed having adult conversation and doing something different for a change.  I didn't manage to get any pictures with Jennie or Doug it was a huge wedding and every time I would try to find them they were busy or always talking to someone.  She looked so pretty in her dress though.

Celebrating with my Mom

My mom's 60th birthday was last week and Clifton and I met her and my dad at the Melting Pot after work on Thursday.  Grammy D was gracious enough to keep Layton a little over time that night so we could enjoy a nice quiet long dinner with them.  My parents had never been before and of course they loved it!  The food was delicious and it was nice to be able to sit and talk with them without any interruptions.  Here are some pictures from our nice dinner out.  Happy birthday mom!!!!  Hope you enjoyed your special day and we look forward to celebrating many more birthdays with you.

Amanda and Jerrod

Amanda and Jerrod have been staying with my parents the past two weeks and it has been so nice having them around to spend time with.  Layton has been spoiled rotten by both of them lately because they have kept him a few days here and there instead of him going to daycare.  They take him swimming, give him ice cream and sno cones pretty much whatever he wants.  He has had so much fun and I’m so glad he is getting this time with them before they leave.

It is going to be so hard to tell them goodbye on August 10th when they leave for Africa.  They are following what God has called them to do so I’m very excited for them.  We all know they  are going to serve Him and have a big mission to accomplish.  It is going to be an adjustment for all of us though, I seriously talk to Amanda at least once a day on the phone and she is more of a best friend than a sister.  I’m thankful we will have skype and can hopefully catch up with them once a week.  I can't help but be excited for them because talking to them you can see how anxious they are getting to go and get started.  They have made some huge sacrifices and I know God will bless them and their time in Africa because of it.  They will be coming home for Christmas and will be here if all goes as planned when we have the baby in January.  I’m so thankful for that because I know how important it is to my sister that she is here to share in that exciting time for our family.  My sister has taken lots of pictures of their fun times with Layton while I was at work these last two weeks so I wanted to share a few of them today.

Swimming with Uncle Jerrod

Hanging out at our house one night after dinner.

More swimming with Aunt Amanda and a poolside lunch.
Amanda even arranged a play date with one of her friends in town.
 Amanda and Jerrod,

We love you and are so excited to see what God is going to do through y'all during your time in Africa.  We know this is going to be an amazing experience for both of you and I'm so glad that we will be right along side of you praying for y'all while you are over there.  It has already been an amazing experience watching everything come together so easily for the trip.  I remember thinking how in the world will they raise enough money in such a short time and wow God provided in so many ways.  I can't believe I ever had doubts.  We will be praying for safe travels and an easy transition during the first few weeks in your new home.  We will be praying that you both stay healthy so you can serve Him and fulfill what God has called you to do.  We will miss both of you!!!

Love y'all,
Amy

Please join me in praying for my sister and brother-n-law as they prepare for the upcoming move to Africa.

Weekend Recap

Last weekend was busy but lots of fun.  Saturday morning my friend Amber who was in town from Colorado came by with her two girls Harlow and Ella.  The baby Ella is the chunkiest baby and so cute!  Layton had fun playing with his new friends.

Saturday night we took Layton to the Riverwalk and had dinner at Casa Rio.  Our friends Chad, Kellie and Emerson met us down there.  The food was delicious and we had a great time.

Later that night my parents, Jerrod's parents and Amanda and Jerrod stopped by and Layton asked Jerrod if he wanted to spend the night and sleep on his top bunk.  He insisted on Jerrod laying up there with him and reading him his books.
Sunday after church, lunch at Dairy Queen and long naps for all of us Clifton put Layton's tricycle together.  We bought Layton a new tricycle with some of his birthday money.  The past few months when we go to Grandpa Corky’s house he loves riding the one they have there and has gotten so fast at pedaling.  He has really enjoyed his tricycle this past week.  Here are a few pictures of Clifton putting it together and Layton riding it.

Sunday night Layton and I were at my parents house because I was monogramming some gifts for Amanda for her coworkers and they decided to skype Daniel, Cooper, Kyleigh and Lauren.  Layton thought it was great seeing his cousins on the screen and talking to them.  Here are a few pictures of the skyping session.

Great memories made all weekend with family and friends!

Seaworld with the Family

On Friday Jerrod, Amanda, Layton and I loaded up in my parent’s motor home with them and headed to Sea World.  We had so much fun even though it was really hot.  Taking the motor home was the smartest decision we made.  We spent the first two hours in the Sesame Street area letting Layton play and ride the rides and then headed to Azul to watch the beluga whales and dolphins show.  At lunch we headed out to the nice air conditioned motor home and had lunch.  It was nice to get a break from the heat and have a quiet place to eat without fighting the crowds and paying way too much money for food.  Of course Layton loved riding in Papa’s motor home and was extremely hyper on the way up to Sea World he was so excited!  Layton was getting tired but I figured we could wear him out a little more at the water park.  My parents decided it was too hot to go back in the park with us so they relaxed and watched T.V. in the motor home and we headed to the water park with Layton.  He had so much fun and Jerrod was so nice to haul him around and play with him so Amanda and I could sit and talk in the sun.  We left the water park around 4 and as soon as we started walking in the stroller Layton was out.  We went and checked out the sharks, coral reef and all the sea lions.  Layton finally woke up after about an hour and we headed back to the Sesame Street area to cool down in the splash pad.  At 5:30 my dad met up with us at the ski show which was fun to watch.  After that we were all exhausted and hot so we headed back to the motor home and decided to call it a day.  We enjoyed some yummy Rudy’s BBQ on the way home and this mommy was so tired.  I went home and bathed Layton and we both went to bed early.  It was such a fun day and one I will remember for a long time.  I can’t wait to go back.  Here are some pictures from our fun day!

Layton was clapping when the carousel ride was over.  He loved it!

Waiting in line to ride the rides with Aunt Amanda.
