Happy New Year!

We have had a quiet new years eve at home.  Clifton grilled steaks and we had twice baked potatoes and spinach salad with chocolate cake for dessert.  We played with the kids and put them to bed.  I've been updating my blog because I was determined to get caught up before the year was over ha.  I'm off to go watch some t.v. and try to make it until midnight.  Happy New Year!

Here are some pics from our wild party animals tonight.  I caught Molly dancing in our room earlier lol.

We have so much to be thankful for in 2012.  It has been a special year for our family.  We started it off by adding Molly Grace to our family and adjusting to a family of 4.  I became a stay at home mom in April which has been such a blessing to our family.  Clifton had another awesome year selling real estate.  I started going to BSF every Wednesday with the kids which has been an amazing experience.  Layton started going to Mother's Day Out in October at the Methodist Church twice a week.  We were also able to take a few mini vacations which were so nice.  Thanking God tonight for two healthy kids and blessing us with a sweet surprise on the way.  I know 2013 will be amazing as we add another little one to the mix in July.  I'm sure we have lots of fun times ahead with three little ones 4 and under.  Thank you God for blessing me with so much more than I deserve!

Christmas with Grandpa and Granny Leigh

We had Christmas with Grandpa Corky and Granny Leigh Sunday after church.  We had lunch and then exchanged gifts.  It is always fun watching the little ones open presents and play with each other.  This wrapped up our Christmas celebrations our kids are so blessed to have so much family close by that we can celebrate all the holidays with.

Date Night

Clifton and I enjoyed a date night on the Riverwalk last Friday night.  We stayed at the Valencia and had dinner at Il Sogno in the Pearl Brewery area.  We walked around on the river and saw the lights and it was freezing so then we headed to Starbucks for hot chocolate and headed back to our room to watch movies.  It was so nice to get away and enjoy some quiet time just the two of us.  My parents were so awesome to keep Molly and Layton for us for the night.  It was my first time leaving Molly overnight and she did great and slept all night for them.  We ordered room service for breakfast and slept in it was amazing.

Christmas Day

Christmas morning is so much fun with little kids.  I set my alarm for 7 so I could be up before Layton to see his reaction when he came in to see everything Santa left him.  I was so sleepy from staying up half the night assembling the train table.  Thankfully Layton slept until 8:30 so I was able to snooze on the couch until he came in the living room.  Molly slept until 9:30 so Layton and I had fun playing just the two of us for awhile before daddy and Molly got out of bed.  It was so much fun laying around watching the kids play and go through all their new stuff.  We headed to Scott and Jennifer's for lunch with all the Shearrer's around noon and I didn't take one single picture while we were there.  I was so tired and trying to keep track of the kids and make sure everyone ate lunch.  We came home and took naps and then spent the rest of the day playing with the kids.  We had such a great Christmas this year so thankful to spend time with all of our families!

Christmas Eve

We got the best surprise this year ever!  Sunday night before Christmas Eve my dad and Clifton insisted on going to San Antonio to pick up a gift for my mom.  I didn't think too much of it and they played it off well so my mom came over to hang out with the kids and I while they were gone.  They got back and we were bathing the kids and Clifton insisted on getting the kids out of the bath tub and putting their clothes back on I was a little annoyed he couldn't wait 5 minutes for me to finish bathing Layton.  We walked outside and my dad is just standing next to his truck smiling and Clifton is videoing the whole thing next thing I know Amanda jumps out of the back seat of my dad's truck and yells SURPRISE!  I was completely shocked I couldn't even talk I just stood there crying with my mouth wide open.  It was the best surprise ever.  Jerrod got out of the other side and we all just hugged.  It was awesome!  We had dinner together that night and caught up and they filled us in on how Clifton and my dad had known about if for 2 weeks and kept it a surprise.  We of course invited them and my parents over for dinner Christmas Eve once we heard they would be in town.  It made my Christmas getting to see them in person.

Our tradition as a family is to have tamales on Christmas Eve so we did and we discovered that Molly loves tamales.  She ate 2 and loved them!  She is definitely a South Texas baby.  After dinner we let Layton and Molly open presents from us because I don't think Santa should get all the credit.  We also made reindeer food and put it out in the yard and left cookies and milk out for Santa.  It was such a fun night!  Clifton and I had no idea Layton's train table was in a million pieces because we hadn't opened the box.  We literally had to put every little piece together it was crazy.  This project started at midnight and thankfully Clifton's cousin Justin came to help and we finished by 2 a.m.  I was exhausted but it was worth it.
