Layton's New Bed

Layton's new bunk beds were delivered this past week and he has done so well with the transition from the crib to the big bed.  I was a little nervous about him having freedom to get out when he chooses but he has done really well.  I lay down with him at night and read him his books and then I tell him goodnight and so far he has stayed in his bed and gone to sleep by himself every night.  Nap time the other day he was testing me and got up 3 times and was playing with toys in his room and climbing up to the top bunk.  After a little discipline he took a 3 hour nap :)  I think he was just testing the waters.  He is so quiet in the mornings though when he wakes up he comes out of his room and over to my side of the bed and wakes me up.  He always wants to get in bed with us and watch Mickey Mouse in the mornings.  He has been sleeping until 8 but this morning was 7 but he sat there quietly and watched t.v. while Clifton and I snoozed a little.  Hopefully during the week Clifton will hear him wake up in the mornings because I'm always gone to work by the time they get up.  Here are some pictures of him in his crib the last night.  I got a little emotional thinking about it.  He is turning into such a little boy all of the sudden.

Here he is asleep in the crib on his last night.

Sleeping in his big boy bed.  There are steps on one side with drawers and a built in dresser and toy closet on the other.  The nice thing is we didn't have to buy a new dresser it is all built in.  I'm still shopping for some new bedding to match his curtains that are already in his room.

First trip of the summer to the lake

Saturday we headed to Medina Lake with Daniel, Lauren and Cooper.  They decided to come to town this weekend and Layton had so much fun playing with his cousins Cooper and Kyleigh all weekend.  Saturday was actually Lauren and Daniel's anniversary.  The boys had a blast swimming at the lake.  Lauren and I enjoyed laying out in the boat getting some sun and catching up.  The water was still pretty chilly but the lake was beautiful despite how low it has gotten since it hasn't rained much.  We will be making many trips to the lake this summer.  Here are a few pictures of our fun day at the lake.

Layton looked so cute for church this morning but he wouldn't cooperate and pose for me so this is the best I got.  He looks like a little boy all of the sudden he is growing up way too fast.

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a low key Memorial Day Weekend and spent most of our time at home.  I cleaned house all day on Saturday yuck and then we went to our friends Patti and Brian's house Saturday night for some BBQ and swimming.  I was in the pool mostly with Layton so I didn't get very many pictures but I did get a few of him learning how to slip and slide.

Here is Emersen taking a turn.

Sunday we had lunch at Clifton's dad's house and Mason and Layton kept us laughing the whole afternoon.

Here are some random pictures of Layton playing at home one night after his bath last weekend.

This is a terrible picture of me but I love Layton's big smile so I had to post it.  I love my sweet boy!

A day at the zoo with Mommy

Last Friday I took Layton to the zoo.  It was just the two of us and we had lots of fun even though it was so hot.  We went and looked at all kinds of animals, had a picnic lunch and then of course rode the train.  Layton fell asleep before I could even drive to Target on our way home.  He was exhausted!  Here are a few pictures from our fun day at the zoo.  For the most part I was chasing Layton because he suddenly thinks he is a big boy and doesn't need to ride in the stroller.  He always says "I walk with mommy" which lasts about 5 seconds and then he takes off.  He keeps me on my toes for sure.

These birds let us get so close to them.
Our attempt at a picture together :)

 Riding the train

Cameron is here!!!!

My friend Juli had a sweet baby boy Cameron Ward last week.  I was able to go visit them that afternoon after work and hold her brand new little one.  Tanner was so cute meeting her little brother for the first time.  She was so good with him.  I just love holding little newborns and he is so tiny at 6 lbs. 15 oz.  They are home now and doing great.  Here are a few pictures I took on his birthday at the hospital.

Cooling off in the backyard

As soon as I got home today I changed clothes and took Layton for a run/walk in the jogging stroller.  It was only 95 degrees outside so needless to say I was hot and tired when we got finished.  I decided to get Layton's water table out so he could play and cool off and I could just sit and watch him in the backyard.  He had so much fun playing in the water and I didn't put a swim diaper or swimsuit on him because I thought he wouldn't get that wet.  Well he was soaked and had a blast!  Here are a few pictures from our fun in the backyard tonight.

He decided to drink the water like Roscoe and Daisy even though mommy told him not to

 Fun with the water hose

And here is Roscoe and Daisy since they never get any love on the blog.  I think they appreciated the company tonight because we were outside hanging out with them too.  They are so good with Layton he likes to ride them like a horse and they just let him.
This is Daisy's favorite spot in the shade on the cool concrete

When I walked in the house after work today Layton walked up to me and said "Mommy how was your day?"  I thought it was cute because I always ask him that in the evenings so he beat me to it tonight.  He also told us tonight that he wants a birthday party like Kyleigh had this weekend so he can open his birthday presents.  He is really catching on that his birthday is coming up.

A brand new nephew

Friday afternoon Leslie (Clifton's sister) and John Paul ended up having their little boy Morgan John Padgett.  He came a week earlier than expected but is healthy and everyone is doing great.  He weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz. and is 22" long.  We went by their house this afternoon right after they got home from the hospital to meet our new nephew.  We dropped Layton off at Grandpa and Granny Leigh's house so Layton will have to meet his new cousin soon.  I know Mason is going to be a great big brother!  Here are two pictures I took today of us holding this sweet little boy.  He seems so tiny but he is perfect.  The one at the bottom was him right after he was born.
