Layton is 10 weeks old

This is my last week home with Layton so I'm trying to get a lot done around the house along with playing with Layton every chance I get. It is hard trying to balance everything. I'm trying to get organized now so it will be easy when I go back to work. It is going to be a hard adjustment for both of us but I hope he gets used to not being with me all day fairly quickly. I'm ready to get this transition over with and get back into a daily routine. I think it will be good for him because he is getting so attached to me. He has become very aware of his environment and who is holding him. He is a mama's boy for sure! He has been enjoying his bumbo chair this week and is talking more and more everyday. Last week he decided to start sleeping longer and he has done it for a week now so I think it is safe to say he is now sleeping from 9:30-7:30 every night. It has been great getting uninterrupted sleep. Here are some pictures of our little man that is growing way too fast.

Clifton's Fountain

Clifton has been working on making a fountain for the tank. He has finally figured out how to make it work. Here are some pictures of him and Chad testing it out. It actually looks really pretty! I wonder what he will come up with next. The tank is filling faster than we thought it would. It is just about ready for us to go swimming in again. The dogs are loving it!

Clifton's Latest Project

Clifton has been working really hard on fixing our tank behind our house the past two weeks. We are finally filling it up with water. He put a liner in the whole tank so it can't leak and then covered the liner with lots of dirt. This weekend he repainted the pier and we started filling it up. We decided now was the best time to get this done since we haven't had any rain. We let the tank dry up on its own so he could fix it. It is going to be so pretty once it is full again. Roscoe and Daisy are so excited to see water in the bottom again. They are getting their swimming pool back again. Here are some pics of the progress.

Amanda's Visit

Amanda and Jerrod came this past weekend to visit. She hadn't seen Layton since he was a week old and she couldn't believe how much he had grown. She was in town for her bridal shower. We had a great weekend hanging out with them and the rest of my family. Her and my mom have been working on wedding stuff trying to get everything finalized. Here are some pics:

2 Month Checkup

Yesterday my mom and I took Layton to his 2 month check up for his first round of shots. He did great with the shots it wasn't too bad. The nurses did it all at once and he only cried for a few seconds and then he seemed fine. He slept for 2 hours after we left the doctor's office. He weighs 15 lbs. and is 24" long now. He is in the 97th percentile for weight and 85th percentile for height. He is really cooing a lot now these days. We can talk to him and he will coo back. As you can see above he smiles all the time now which is so much fun. He is getting better with tummy time and doesn't seem to mind it as much. He has been sucking on his hands like crazy and drooling a lot. We finally stopped swaddling him at night and he is still sleeping from about 11 until 5:30 or 6:30 each night. He has started taking longer naps during the day but naps the best in his swing. I have less than three weeks at home with him so I'm trying to cherish every moment we have together.

Friday night Clifton and I went to Cowboy Homecoming to hear Eli Young play so we let his Grandpa Corky and Grandma Leigh babysit for us. He did great with them and was sound asleep when we went to pick him up that night. I got up early the next morning and ran in the Cowboy Homecoming 5k. It was a lot harder than it was last year and was so hot. I met my friends Juli and Brooke there and we all ran it. It was a good reminder that I really need to start running more to get back in shape.

Here is a picture of him before church on Sunday. Thanks for the cute outfit Uncle Carter and Aunt Laura.

Layton is giving me a look like mommy please stop taking my picture already.

First Time Parents

Last week Layton had started to sneeze and cough a little and by Friday morning he was having a hard time breathing through his nose. I called the pediatrician's office and explained to them what was going on so they asked us to bring him in. I was convinced he was sick. They weighed him when we got there and he weighed 14 lbs already at 6 weeks I couldn't believe it. The doctor came in and asked us if we had tried to clean out his nose with saline solution and we weren't sure how to do it so she showed us. Layton wasn't sick which was great news he just needed to have his nose cleaned out. He didn't like us messing with him but as soon as she was finished and he calmed down he went right to sleep in my arms. He slept for 2 hours after we left the doctor. We felt a little silly for taking him to the doctor since he wasn't really sick but I guess you learn how this whole parenting thing works a little everyday. Here are some recent pictures of him.

Here is Layton all swaddled up for bed last night.

All ready for church on Sunday.

I asked Clifton to undress him and get him ready for bed and he was being silly. Layton thinks his daddy is funny.

Hanging out at home

I haven't blogged in over a week but I don't have much to write about. We have just been hanging out at home and enjoying our time with Layton. I have been taking lots of pictures everyday because he is changing so much. Clifton and I have decided that we are going to have family watch him when I go back to work until he gets a little bit older. My mom will keep him two days a week and my sister-n-law Lauren will watch him two days a week and then I'm hoping to work from home one day a week. We also have Clifton's mom and stepmom that have offered to watch him once a week too. I'm sure everyone will get a chance to watch him for us. We are so blessed to have so much family close by. I think this will make going back to work a little easier for me.

Clifton and I managed to have our first night away from Layton last Saturday night we went to a party for one of my coworkers in San Antonio. Grammy D (Clifton's mom) watched him for a few hours for us. It was hard to be away from him but I knew he was in good hands. It was nice to have some time to hang out with Clifton.
